The American Bando Association was official organized at the first Bando Initiation Ceremony in the Red Room at Ohio University at 3:00 p..m. on June 15, 1967.

The International Bando Association was formed by U Ban Than Gyi (then Director of Physical Education and Athletics for the Union of Burma) on March 9, 1946 in honor of those who fought and died in the China-Burma-India Theatre of World War II.
